For both ethical and practical reasons we have chosen to be an independent training. Here we explain our decision around this.
As a 250hr yoga and mindfulness training, our course structure does not fit into the standard 200hr TT format. We did not want to compromise the integrity of the Body of Wisdom vision where the additional focus on mindfulness is extremely important for us.
Teaching and studio insurance may be obtained without Yoga Alliance (or any other) registration.
If you later wish to take a 300hr Yoga Alliance advanced teacher training, the Body of Wisdom training will be accepted in almost all circumstances.
It is possible to do a three week Yoga Alliance teacher training intensive with no prior experience of yoga, and immediately register yourself as a “RYT200” teacher. We believe the “large group, short time” format harms the quality of training and creates unrealistic expectations.
Beyond reviewing the course structure and taking payment, the Yoga Alliance makes no inspection of the trainings registered with them.
The Yoga Alliance does neither control or assess the quality of the teaching of the course, nor verify the lead teachers’ experience level.
WHAT WE OFFER BEYOND THE YOGA ALLIANCE LISTING
250hr certification through Body of Wisdom, including formal certificate and listing on our website with your name and location.
As we are a small training and will get to know you well, we will happily offer a formal personalised reference to any yoga studio, business, organisation or training, vouching for your professional competence and character.
All Body of Wisdom teachers can join quarterly BoW community calls for professional development, growth, learning and support.
It is clear from many years in the profession that being "RYT200" does not increase your chances of professional success as a yoga teacher.
Success comes from two main factors - the quality of your teaching and who you are as a person. Our course is designed to enrich you in both these ways.
In order to be in integrity with our values and vision of yoga practice and teaching, we have made the decision to retain the freedom to offer a course which combines yoga with an extended mindfulness focus. This allows us to best adapt the course to the unique needs of our students.
At Body of Wisdom we believe our values, vision and the quality of our teaching are the most fundamental and important advantages, and set us apart from other professional trainings. We are a small group training with a uniquely holistic approach, and our main focus is you and your development.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do get in touch and we would be more than happy to have a chat!
